Monica Brant's FEM (Fun, Educational, Motivational) Camp 2007

So, 2 days after returning from Phoenix, I jetted out to Austin, Texas to attend Monica Brant's FEM Camp 2007. What an experience this was. I can't even tell you how much I learned about Figure Competition and everything that goes into preparing for one of these events. This was the BEST way to jump in and learn the ropes.

Monica and her business partner, Lynda Thoresen went above and beyond anything that I could have expected. We left with so many samples and "goodies" I thought I would need another suitcase. Luckily, I found a way to fit it in, but had to pay an extra $50.00 at the airport, because my suitcase was almost 70 lbs.!! There's a workout in itself.

Here I am on day two at the gym with Lynda Thoresen, me, Monica Brant and her husband Scott. They scheduled us for two 1.5 hour workouts each day, along with educational sessions on competition preparation nutrition programs (luckily I have extra training here), suit selections, tanning, posing, walking (in 5 inch heels), hair, makeup and fitness modeling as well.

Here I am with Competition Coach Kim Oddo. He is a leader in the industry for developing Number 1 competitors. I am happy to say that I am now going to be one of "Oddo's Angels." I'll fill you in more on that later.

Here I am with my "team" as we completed one round of workouts on day 2. This is a strong group of women, and we had a great time getting to know one another.

She is just as beautiful in person. Here she was, to meet with Kim Oddo for her check in prior to the Arnold Classic, which is the first weekend in March.

As I mentioned above, we had a session on "suit selection" and I had the pleasure of meeting Berns of Passion Fruit Designs. She is a warm, and fun loving woman, who really knows this business. Not only did I buy one of her custom designed crystal bras (that I wore home for my husband), but I am thrilled to say I ordered both my one and two-piece suits from her, and can't wait to see the beautiful creations.

For those of you that don't know much about Figure Competition, I have to tell you that these custom made suits don't come cheap. However, I was lucky enough to work with Berns privately in designing my suits, and I am really excited to see them. Of course, wearing them in front of hundreds of people, will certainly be an experience.

Those of you that know me, know that I am very "pale" to say the least. Now, I have been tanning at the salon to get a base tan, but nothing prepared me for the "competition tan" that I received while in Austin. We had Jan Tana herself and her partner Kevin there to spray us all down. For those of you familiar with the body building industry, she is a legend!! Again, another wonderful, down to earth couple, who made us all feel completely comfortable. After all, we had a room of half naked women, all getting tanned, touched up and drying off with the Jan Tana Competition tan. Again, just going through the process was invaluable.

Finally, and certainly not least, we had not one but two photo sessions with professional photographer, David Ford. He was amazing to work with and made all of us feel comfortable and have fun while showing off. Sorry, but I'm not sharing those photos - yet!!

POWER Transformation 2007 Kickoff!

It has been a few weeks, so I have a lot of catching up to do.

We have been travelling like crazy, and we have had many exciting events to fill you in on. The day after we returned from Los Angeles and our Gold Mastermind Meeting (see previous post), we immediately left for Phoenix to work with our good friend and co-Platinum Member Bobby Kelly, of Results Only on a new joint venture - The POWER Transformation 12 week program.

February 5th was our kickoff, and it was a great success. Here we are setting up and getting the film crew ready, while participants are getting settled. Everyone was photographed in their "before" state, so that we have a great comparison at the end.

Here is Bobby Kelly explaining the program design to the participants, and then to introduce Lucho.









Lucho dives right in with his nutrition seminar and explaining how the nutrition portion of the program will work. You could hear a pin drop, they were listening so intently. Bobby told us they are never this quiet. So we know it was great content. Everyone left with articles, nutrition programs and a fantastic supplement package.

Part of the program is that everyone had to have their bodyfat tested, so we had a starting point to go with their "before" photos. This is part of the starting process.

The questions were fantastic, and it was quite an enthusiastic group. We have since followed up with our first Teleseminar to address ongoing questions, and have scheduled Teleseminars every 2 weeks for support.

We will keep you posted on their progress, as Bobby kicks their butts with his intense workouts, and they continue to work on their nutrition.
We are really excited to see their progress. It is a motivated group.

WOW! What a powerful weekend. Yes, we just returned from 2 full days in Santa Monica at our Gold Mastermind Meeting. Here is where we have the opportunity to network with other like-minded, successful entrepreneurs and spend some much needed time working ON our company - not IN our company.

Here we are with our business mentor and friend Alexandria Brown. She always makes sure to provide amazing content and address REAL issues that we entrepreneurs face.
She had over 50 businesses in attendance from all over the country. What an opportunity to grow and expand our minds.
The guest speaker at this event was the truly inspirational winner of last year's "Apprentice" show - Kendra Todd. This 28 year old is very impressive and we can see why she easily beat out the competition. She signed her book for us and posed for this picture. I can't wait to read her book!
Of course, if you know Ali at all, she always makes sure to be surrounded by beauty. This is the view from our window-lined conference room. It was spectacular!!

Now to Lisa's Big Adventure:
For those of you wondering how my program is going, I have to tell you it is an amazing process. Even with all of the travelling (Los Angeles for 2 days, Phoenix for 2 days and then I am off to Austin, TX tomorrow for 4 days), I have figured out how to stay true to myself and to my goal. I am very happy to report the results at my one-month point:

I am at 19.4% body fat
I lost 1 pound and .67% BF
I gained .14 lbs of muscle and lost 1.09 lbs of FAT!! SNAP!!

I know I keep saying this, and it's true - I feel amazing!! Lucho is incredible to work with and is so supportive (I know he is loving it). He keeps me on track when I think about straying, and I know that the hard part is coming. I am so lucky to be going through this process with him as my secret weapon. My trainer - Iron Mike Boticelli (Mr. San Diego 2007) is pushing me to levels I never knew I could go. I Love It!!

And what is interesting is all that is coming from this experience. As you all know, I am "putting it out there" as much as possible. I WILL win first place in my first competition. I know it!! People are actually interested in hearing about this process, and I feel that this is just the beginning.

So, I leave tomorrow for Austin, TX to train with the one and only Monica Brant!! She is probably the best known IFBB Pro Figure & Fitness Competitor in the country. I'll tell you more about it when I get back - and I'll bring pictures!! Can't wait.
